7 Brew coffee drive-thru location proposed in Delta Township

DELTA TWP. — Arkansas-based drive-thru coffee shop chain 7 Brew has proposed its second Lansing area location near the intersection of Interstate 96 and Saginaw Highway.

Brew Horizons LLC, which owns and operates 38 7 Brew franchise locations in the U.S., has submitted a proposed site plan, along with site plan review and special land use permit applications to the township, according to township Planning and Economic Development Director Peter Menser.

The company wants to build the 550-square-foot building on 0.65 acres at 8212 W. Saginaw Hwy. The land, previously occupied by Paradise Motors, an auto dealership, is near commercial development Delta Crossings.

Brew Horizons LLC wants to lease the property, said Mike Tierney, its senior vice president of development. The company operates the area’s only other 7 Brew location on South Cedar Street. It opened in 2025 and has been one of the franchisees most successful 7 Brews, Tierney said.

The chain is known for its coffee and energy drinks and smoothies. Locations serve coffee including cold brew options, energy drinks, “7 fizz” drinks, teas, lemonade, smoothies and shakes.

Waiting on a traffic study

The township property is near a busy retail area and is a good spot for a 7 Brew, Tierney said. “It supports everything that would make us think it would be a successful location for us,” he said. “We like to be on those busy corridors.”

If it moves forward, the coffee shop, with two drive-thru lanes and no inside seating, would be built on the Saginaw Highway property, he said.

Township officials have requested more from the applicant and won’t consider permits or the site plan for more than a month.

“The applications received are currently considered incomplete, we are waiting on the submittal of a traffic study and refined site plans providing additional information on the proposed development,” Menser said in an email.

The township’s request for a traffic study is likely due to the amount of heavy traffic the South Cedar Street 7 Brew draws, Tierney said.

“That site is one of our best sites in our portfolio,” he said.

The company ordered a full traffic study a week ago, Tierney said. It will be submitted to the township when it is finished.

“It takes six to eight weeks just to get a full traffic study completed,” he said. “We would be lucky to do this location next year.”

Brand expanding in Michigan

There are currently just under a dozen 7 Brew locations in Michigan, according to the company’s website. Tierney said that number will increase this year with construction on two more, in Plainwell and Adrian, expected to start soon and more on the way.

There are nearly 700 7 Brew stands total. None offer indoor seating, instead featuring drive-thru lanes and walk up windows.

If it moves forward, the proposed 7 Brew in Delta Township would likely employ 60 to 70 people, Tierney said.
