Fresh off releasing Caitlin Clark’s “Rookie of the Year” Kobe 5 colorway in April, Nike has brought yet another one of the former Iowa women’s basketball legend’s player-exclusive makeups to the retail market. The company released Kobe 5 Protro x Caitlin Clark “Coconut Milk and Bright Spruce” shoes for public sale at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning for $190 a pair.
Clark’s shoes sold out quickly, though there are some resale options at more expensive, ranging prices.
The design is an homage to Clark’s avid fandom of classic board games, using colors associated with the popular board game “Scrabble” for this limited-edition Protro.
With that inspiration, the “Coconut Milk and Bright Spruce” iteration of Clark’s Kobe 5 Protro PE (style code: IZ1852-100) dons a predominantly sail color scheme on the upper, offset by blue trims on the mudguard that runs up the eyelets and on the Swoosh logos. A contrasting rebel red accent appears on the tongue, completing the look with a two-tone midsole and outsole.
Given the astronomically high popularity of the former Hawkeye and current Indiana Fever star, the public sale of the Clark’s Kobe 5 Protro PE once again sold out almost instantly.
Similar to her “Rookie of the Year” Kobe 5 Protros PEs, fans looking to acquire Clark’s latest shoes will need to either search the resale market or wait for Nike to restock their online inventory.
