Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is officially the Madden 2027 cover athlete, EA Sports announced on Wednesday. This is the first time a Bears player has been featured on the iconic game.
EA Sports revealed two covers, including the standard edition and deluxe editions. The standard edition features Williams in his signature jump pose above the Chicago skyline while the deluxe edition includes him sporting his signature Iceman pose amid snowy conditions.
The Madden 27 official reveal will be Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, which will likely feature a trailer for the game.
It’s no surprise that Williams would be the Madden 27 cover athlete after his breakout season in 2025, where he emerged as one of the league’s most clutch quarterbacks leading an NFL record seven fourth-quarter comebacks, including a wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers. Williams also set the franchise single-season passing record (3,942 yards) and fell just shy of becoming the Bears’ first 4,000-yard passer.
The crazy thing is that Williams still isn’t close to his ceiling as a quarterback, especially working with one of the NFL’s brightest offensive minds in head coach Ben Johnson. Williams still needs to improve his completion percentage and perfect his short passing game, but there’s no denying he has the potential to be one of the NFL’s best.
More to come.
