Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry made headlines Monday, agreeing to a new signature shoe deal with Chinese brand Li-Ning. After parting ways with his former brand, Under Armour, Curry was a sneaker free agent for just over six months before deciding on a new partnership.
NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN revealed Tuesday that Curry’s new contract with Li-Ning is worth over $400 million. Charania also states that Curry had similar offers from other brands and even one that exceeded the dollar value of his deal with Li-Ning. That said, the former two-time MVP expressed admiration for the Chinese brand after wearing the signature shoes of NBA legend Dwyane Wade and current teammate Jimmy Butler who are also partnered with Li-Ning.
After 10+ years with Under Armour and 13 signature shoes, Warriors fans will be awaiting Curry’s first release with his new brand partner.
