The Cincinnati Bengals have gone from overlooked or even bashed to…media darlings?
After the big spending and Dexter Lawrence trade, the national scene was forced to praise the Bengals a bit for getting out of their comfort zone and doing what it takes to win around Joe Burrow.
Burrow becoming an ambassador for the NFL eager to help build up the sport of football has only forced more praise the Bengals’ way.
Take the latest from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, where he had nothing but good things to say on a national platform.
“If Joe Burrow is healthy, they’re probably going to be playing with the lead a lot of the time,” Schefter said on “Get Up.” “It takes the pressure off what should be a much-improved defense.”
Bengals fans know all too well that this is a pretty dramatic departure from the typical Schefter discourse.
All of the above, plus the fact oddsmakers love the Bengals so much right now, has sort of forced the national coverage into this corner.
And hey, wondering aloud if Burrow might leave the Bengals and stuff might draw more eyeballs, but fans will find it hard to complain about the sudden turn.
