Here's when you can get a sneak peek at the second Dutch Girl Donuts

Beloved Dutch Girls Donuts is showing off the new space of its second location on Friday, which happens to be National  Donut Day.

Owner Paddy Lynch, in a Tuesday, June 2, news release, announced that customers can stop by and get a glimpse of the new space at 2820 E. Grand Blvd. in Detroit’s New Center area.

And there’s free doughnuts, to boot.

Customers receive two free doughnuts, while supplies last, from 8-10 a.m.

“This is a celebration of Detroit, tradition, and the incredible support our customers have shown us over the years,” Lynch said in the release. “We couldn’t imagine a better day to show off the new space than National Donut Day.”

Prepackaged assorted boxes with a dozen doughnuts can be purchased for $20 each.

Earlier this year, Lynch announced the purchase of the historic Detroit building known as the Howrani Studios building on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit’s North End, adjacent to New Center.

Acquiring the longtime, family-owned photography studio that will house the second Dutch Girl Donuts location adds to Lynch’s Detroit real estate portfolio while also expanding the beloved doughnut brand.

A beloved Detroit institution since 1947,  Lynch bought the original Dutch Girl Donuts on Woodward in late 2023, which was operated by three generations of the Timmer family. In May of 2024, after remodeling, he reopened the iconic Woodward Avenue doughnut shop.

A third-generation funeral director with the family-owned and operated Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors, Lynch has been growing his real estate portfolio. Last summer, Lynch purchased the Dakota Inn Rathskeller, a more than 90-year-old, family-owned German biergarten and restaurant on John R near Seven Mile.

Housing the second Dutch Girl location, Howrani Studios was owned by the award-winning late Detroit photographer Ameen Howarani, who started the business in 1965.
