Florida basketball’s rising senior Alex Condon has been named to Basketball Australia’s 12-man roster for the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The event, held July 3 and 6 in his hometown of Perth, represents Condon’s debut with Australia’s senior national team.
He becomes the third Gator to compete for his senior national team while still at Florida, joining guards Mike Rosario (2012 Centrobasket, Puerto Rico) and Andrew Nembhard (2019 World Cup, Canada).
The 6-foot-11, 236-pound Aussie was the Gators’ starting power forward for the second consecutive season during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging a single-season high of 15.1 points per game while shooting a career-best 55.6% from the field. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 blocks per contest en route to an All-SEC Second-Team pick by the Associated Press and a Third-Team selection by the league’s coaches.
Condon opted to return to Florida in April instead of entering the NBA draft, in which he was projected as a mid-to-late second-round selection. His decision to stay in school, along with his frontcourt brethren Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu, gives the Gators arguably the best frontcourt in the nation heading into next season.
