Texas A&M star infielder opens up about what Aggieland means to him

Texas A&M baseball dropped the NCAA Tournament Regional Final to USC after losing two straight games to the Trojans, 14-3 and 7-1. This ended their season earlier than fans expected after a late-season resurgence that included five consecutive SEC series wins.

Coach Mike Earley started the press conference with a brief preamble, first congratulating USC and shouting out opposing coach Andy Stankiewicz, whom Earley admires. He then pivoted to a big-picture review of the Aggies’ season, saying, “As far as our team, these guys, we had a hell of a year. Obviously, this is not the outcome we wanted, you never do, but I’m super proud of them and the effort.”

Texas A&M Star and future MLB draft pick Gavin Grahovac fielded the second question of the presser: “Gavin, your time in Aggieland has been anything but linear; can you talk a little bit about what this place means to you?”

“It means everything, to be honest with you,” before pausing to take a breath. He continued, “This place has changed my life, not like I could ever imagine. They took me in from California, a thousand miles away from home, and it felt like home immediately. I love this place with all my heart. I always will. Can’t thank Coach Earley enough for believing in me and everything that I’ve done over these past couple years and letting me do what I’ve done.”

Grahovac ended his emotional first response with a few more shoutouts before staring off into the crowd of reporters and wiping his eyes, “I can’t thank my teammates, every staff I’ve had here, all the players I’ve played with, all the support staff, everything. There’s nothing like this place, and I’ll forever cherish it.”
