A man reported missing on Friday was found dead in Lake Buffalo in Iowa Park Monday, according to the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office.
A media release from WCSO said law enforcement agencies went to the lake about 2:39 p.m. Friday after getting a report of missing man.
A caller said his 56-year-old son had gone to the lake to fish on Wednesday and his truck was found crashed in a ditch east of Burnett Ranch Road.
The release said deputies, Texas Game Wardens and personnel from the Wichita County Emergency Management Office responded to the scene, deploying a Wichita County tracking dog, drones, boats and all-terrain vehicles. The man was not located.
Searchers returned to the lake about 12:30 p.m, Monday after receiving additional information, the release said.
They found the man’s body in the lake at 3:09 p.m., the release said. It was transported to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy.
Wichita County Sheriff WIlliam Rutledge said Tuesday morning the man’s name will be released when it is confirmed next of kin has been notified.
