Pewaukee's Milan Momcilovic will transfer to Kentucky from Iowa State

Former Pewaukee High School standout Milan Momcilovic has decided on his next college basketball team.

The biggest name in the NCAA transfer portal after withdrawing from the NBA draft, Momcilovic announced June 1 that he has committed to Kentucky.

The 6-foot-9 sharpshooter spent three seasons at Iowa State playing for another Milwaukee-area native, T.J. Otzelberger.

Momcilovic’s 3-point shooting prowess – he nailed 48.6% on his 280 attempts last season – made him a coveted player as a transfer. St. John’s, Louisville and Arizona were other schools who pursued Momcilovic, who was expected to command more than $5 million for his services next season.

With Kentucky, Momcilovic will play for head coach Mark Pope, who was a forward for the Milwaukee Bucks from 2000-02.

Momcilovic was a highly decorated player at Pewaukee, winning three straight WIAA Division 2 state championships and claiming the Associated Press and Gatorade player of the year awards as a senior while also being named co-Mr. Basketball.
