An Oklahoma resident died in a rollover crash Friday afternoon in Lipscomb County, authorities said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that about 5:30 p.m. May 29, a 1999 GMC Sierra was traveling northeast on US 60 southwest of Higgins when the driver lost control of the pickup due to a suspected mechanical failure.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the GMC entered a side skid, traveled off the roadway into the ditch, and rolled over multiple times.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and, as a result, was thrown from the vehicle.
Cameron Kaylyn Hammons, 25, of Ames, Oklahoma, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries she sustained in the crash.
Road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
