Florida State is looking to land some elite talent at the wide receiver position in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Four-star prospect Sean Green is at the top of their priority list, but so is four-star recruit Cam Wade out of Leesburg, Virginia.
He is set to make his decision on July 1 after he takes his official visits to see the Virginia Tech Hokies (June 5), FSU (June 12), and the Maryland Terapins (June 19). However, as he sets to get his visits started this week, Florida State sits at the top per Chad Simmons of Rivals.
Florida State is leading right now, definitely,” Wade told Rivals. “I have visited Tallahassee multiple times for Junior Day events and spring practices, and the relationships stand out.
Talking to Coach Norvell a lot just makes me feel like a real priority up there. He has put a lot of time into recruiting me, and that means a lot. Coach Harris has done the same. They talk to my family and just make sure we’re okay and keep us in the loop with everything.
Wade is the nation’s No. 359 recruit and the No. 51 wide receiver per Rivals’ industry rankings. In the state of Virginia, he’s the No. 8 prospect.
Before transferring to Loudoun Sports Academy for his senior year, Wade had a strong junior year at Paducah Tilghman High School in Paducah, Kentucky. He registered 53 receptions for 821 yards and 14 touchdowns. Wade also contributed on defense and special teams with two interception return touchdowns as a cornerback and two punt return scores.
The Seminoles offered Wade last September, and he took a Junior Day visit in January plus an unofficial visit in April. They’re still looking to add their first receiver in the cycle, and it would behoove them to not let Wade leave without committing, which would negate his trip to Maryland.
