Vote for the Moore Mechanical Athlete of the Week May 26-30

The Moore Mechanical Athlete of the Week for the Petoskey-area is back for the spring sports season!

All results for this week’s poll come from Tuesday, May 26 through Saturday, May 30 from Emmet and Charlevoix Counties.

Congratulations to Boyne City’s Riley Thiel on being named the athlete of the week last week, after picking up 55.72% of the vote.

Thiel is one of a number of Ramblers have a big season, which has led to conference and district titles.

Vote for these athletes from Monday, June 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday, June 4. Look for another Moore Mechanical Athlete of the Week from the Petoskey-area next week.

Bella Jewett, Boyne City softball 

Jewett helped Boyne City claim a Northern Shores and a district title last week by going 5-for-11 with 3 RBIs, a homer, double and 7 runs scored. 

Beckett Blake, Petoskey baseball 

Blake caught all 19 innings of the district and raised his fielding percentage to .995 for the season, with just one error in 190.1 innings. He also went 3-for-7 with 4 RBIs in the district. 

Claire Miller, Harbor Springs tennis

Miller went out with a bang at the D4 state finals, with the senior No. 3 singles athlete topping No. 4 and No. 5 seeds to reach the semifinals, before falling to the eventual state champ. 

Ryder Hopkins, Charlevoix track

Hopkins set a new PR in the 3,200 at the state finals in 9:41.10, beating his previous mark by seven seconds. He claimed all-state and earned an eighth place state finish. 

Bristol Skop, East Jordan softball 

Skop had her season close in districts against one of the top D4 teams in the state, but not before going 6-for-8 with 4 RBIs, 6 runs and two doubles in the district. 

Will Paulus, Harbor Light baseball 

Paulus finished last week going 6-for-13 with 5 runs, 5 RBIs and two doubles, while pitching 9.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and just 3 hits allowed. He earned two wins, including the district final. 

Stefi Reskevics, Harbor Springs soccer 

Reskevics lifted Boyne City to a district title with back to back games with two goals against Suttons Bay and Elk Rapids, including the game-winner vs. Elk. 

Ben McShannock, Harbor Springs baseball 

McShannock had a strong week, helping Harbor to NSC and district titles, pitching 9.2 innings with 9 strikeouts and two wins. He was also 2-for-3 with an RBIs and two runs in the district.
