OKC's Game 7 loss proves the difficulty of Golden State's dynasty

With the San Antonio Spurs’ victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder last night, there will be a new NBA champion crowned for the 2025-26 NBA season. This marks the eighth consecutive season with a new champion, dating all the way back to Golden State’s back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Additionally, the Warriors are the only team in the last 10 seasons to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals more than once. Golden State did so four times, winning three NBA championships in that span, two against the Cleveland Cavaliers (2017-18) and one against the Boston Celtics (2022).

Although the Oklahoma City Thunder dominated the West over the past two seasons, setting an all-time record in point differential this season, Golden State’s dominance in a loaded Western Conference is unmistakable, once again proving itself as one of the NBA’s strongest dynasties.
