Marilyn Monroe 100th Birthday screening of ‘Some Like It Hot’ in 35mm
Celebrate the 100th birthday of late icon Marilyn Monroe at this very special screening of arguably her most famous film. “Some Like It Hot” follows two musicians who “witness a mob hit in Chicago” and go on to “disguise themselves as members of an all-female band and flee to Florida — landing at a luxurious seaside resort,” as the event description says. This film, which will be screened in 35mm, is part of the Palm Springs Cultural Center’s “CineVista: A Cinematic Tour of Iconic Hotels” film series, which always kicks off with a vintage-style pre-show featuring trailers, newsreels, and cinematic ephemera from the year of the film. Local film historians will then introduce the film and share insights into the movie, the hotel where it was shot, and the fascinating stories behind both.
When: 5 p.m. pre-show, 6 p.m. screening Monday, June 1
