Manslaughter charge dropped in Monroe hotel death

A manslaughter charge against a Toledo man in connection to a death at the Monroe Township Econo Lodge has been dropped.

According to Monroe County Prosecutor Jeff Yorkey, the case against Mark Holmes was closed after his office received the autopsy report for Cazz Vinson stating he died of “cocaine and methamphetamine intoxication.”

Vinson died on March 28 at the Econo Lodge, 6500 E. Albain Road. According to the police report, Holmes was wearing a t-shirt covered in blood when Deputy Brandon Larkins arrived at the scene after responding to a call about a disturbance. Holmes said that Vinson has stolen his money and then “jumped” him when confronted about it. He also said that he’d performed CPR on Vinson prior to Larkins’ arrival.

Holmes was released from the county jail Thursday, May 28, according to online records.
