A beer garden could be coming to downtown Milwaukee’s Red Arrow Park, according to plans from Estabrook Park Beer Garden’s operator.
The proposed Red Arrow Beer Garden would open immediately, with food service moving into the park’s former Biggby Coffee space during the winter. That indoor operation would include a bar.
That’s according to a new tavern license application filed with the Milwaukee City Clerk’s office by Hans and Kimberly Weissgerber.
They hope to open by mid- to late July if the license receives Common Council approval, Hans Weissgerber told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Weissgerbers operate Estabrook Park Beer Garden as well as Old German Beer Hall, 1009 N. King Drive.
Milwaukee County Parks Department plans to lease the space to their company, ABC Estabrook Inc., from June 2026 through March 2027, according to a department letter included with the tavern license application.
ABC Estabrook also is seeking a public entertainment license to offer live music performances – which Estabrook Beer Garden features.
The space became available after Biggby Coffee closed in March.
The proposal comes as city and county officials consider changes at Red Arrow Park. That could include replacing the skating rink with a “skating ribbon” running throughout much of the small park.
