Mexican senate approves amendment so elections can be annulled for foreign interference

MEXICO CITY, May 29 (Reuters) – Mexico’s Senate on Friday approved a constitutional amendment to include “foreign interference” as a reason to annul elections in the country.

On Thursday, the lower house backed the amendment, which challenges an article of the constitution and defines foreign interference as “illicit financing, propaganda, the systematic dissemination of misinformation, digital manipulation, and the intervention of foreign governments or agencies.”
