Best of the best: USA Today recognizes Naples burger joint

Few foods are as universally loved as a good burger. With National Burger Day coming up May 28, there couldn’t have been a better time for USA Today to recognize a Naples burger joint as being one of the best in Florida.

Brooks Burgers has three locations across Naples and has been recognized as one of the best burger joints in town for years, but now it’s gaining well-earned attention from USA Today. The national news network listed Brooks Burgers as one of the best spots in the Sunshine State.

The restaurant’s menu is full of classic anyone would love, plus new twists like a “Reuben Burger” with corned beef, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing, or the “Goober” with peanut butter and bacon.

Brooks Burgers’ most talked-about burger is the “Donut,” which is a beef patty, American cheese, and bacon sandwiched between two glazed donuts. It’s overwhelming in the best way and worth trying at least once.

Whether you’re craving a classic cheeseburger, a gourmet creation loaded with unique flavors, or a smash burger with crispy edges, these local restaurants are serving up some of the best burgers in town.

Twisted Sheep

Twisted Sheep is best known for its wacky pizza toppings, but the restaurant’s burger selection is just as crave-worthy. The “OG Burger” consists of Kobe beef, cheese blend, garlic aioli, arugula, tomato, and red onion on a brioche bun. It’s the perfect safe, but delicious, option.

Tap 42

Tap 42’s entire menu is delicious, but I recently discovered the restaurant has one of the best smash burgers in town. “The Big Smash” is made with two Tap 42 blend patties, smash sauce, caramelized onions, melted American cheese, and optional thick cut peppered bacon.

Another great burger on the Tap 42 menu is “The Prohibition,” which is made with the Tap 42 burger blend, white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, applewood bacon, secret sauce, and Dijonnaise. If you’re looking for something out of the box, try “The Drunken Goat,” which is made with lamb and beef burger blend, honey whipped goat cheese, LTO, Dijonnaise and purple haze raspberry jam.

Bicyclette Cookshop

Bicyclette’s menu is full of innovative creations that each tell a story. But one of the best items on the menu is the “Wagyu Smashburger.” It’s made with a Wagyu patty, raclette, Swiss, kimchi aioli and potato chips. Every bite is messy, juicy, and crunchy. The smash burger is Chef Kayla Pfeiffer’s elevated take on a Big Mac from McDonald’s, and it’s addictive.

Oasis

Oasis may only have one burger on its menu, but that’s honestly all it needs. The “Smash Burger” is made with two griddled beef patties, American cheese, Dijon mayo, grilled diced onions, and pickles on a toasted brioche bun. It’s a simple smash burger, but locals call it one of the best in town.

Taberna Burntwood

Taberna Burntwood has a ton of menu items, but the smash burger is a standout star. It’s made with special sauce, American cheese, onion and pickles. Far too many restaurants falsely label their burgers as smash burgers but fall short. Taberna Burntwood knows how to make a truly great smash burger that’ll have you coming back for more.
