It’s a new payday for Houston Texans Pro Bowl wideout Nico Collins.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Texans and Collins reached an agreement on a new adjusted contract that guarantees his salary for the next two seasons. The deal, which was negotiated by agent Drew Rosenhaus, includes a $9 million cash increase this year and an $8 million cash increase in 2027.
Collins, who totaled three straight 1,000-yard seasons with new quarterback C.J. Stroud, has been one of the league’s most consistent pass-catchers since 2023. He was also on one of the league’s more affordable contracts, earning just $24.2 million annually, which ranked 18th among the highest-paid receivers.
At 27, Collins will still have a chance to cash in after 2027 with a new team or on a new deal with Houston. Earlier this offseason, reports circulated that Houston could be open to moving Collins for the right price, though general manager Nick Caserio shut that down during the draft weekend.
“We’re not trading Nico Collins,” Caserio said last month. “Whoever reported it or whatever information that they had, they can shove it. We’re not trading Nico.”
The Texans begin voluntary workouts starting on Wednesday and will be open to the media on Thursday afternoon.
