Summer is just about here, sort of, and it is the time of the year when scouts look forward to the next college football season to see who looks the most eager to have a great season, thus raising their draft stock. Every year, we do Summer Scouting to preview college football for Bucs fans and give them names to follow and watch in the fall as needs pop up for Tampa Bay.
Are we going to write about quarterbacks? Offensive tackles? Edge rushers? You know it, but why? Because other NFL teams will draft them, just as they will draft every other position. It all matters whether these players end up on the Bucs, the Panthers, or the 49ers. We write these so that Bucs fans can become more informed, so they have an idea of the style of player and what to expect if a player is drafted to Tampa Bay.
So if you are still with us, enjoy our latest Summer Scouting report as we prepare you for the Fall.

Player Summary
Drake Lindsey is a quarterback who I think wins more with processing and timing than pure physical tools right now. Against the Ohio State Buckeyes, there were multiple moments when he quickly diagnosed coverage movement and got the football out before his pass catchers were even fully prepared. Sometimes that can create awkward moments for receivers, but it also shows confidence and anticipation from a young quarterback.
I do think Lindsey needs to clean up parts of his mechanics. His footwork can get lazy in his dropback, and when pressure arrives, he has a tendency to rely on off-platform throws instead of resetting himself. I would also like to see more velocity on cross-field throws and better play-action selling moving forward.
Still, Lindsey understands how to keep an offense on schedule, and I appreciate that he is willing to kill a play rather than turn every broken rep into chaos. There is still development needed here, but there are enough flashes with his decision-making and processing ability to make him a quarterback worth monitoring heading into 2026.
