A Monroe man was killed and another driver critically injured in a head-on crash Saturday evening, May 23, in Orange County, according to New York State Police.
Crash happened on Lakes Road
State police said troopers from the Monroe barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 7:14 p.m. on Lakes Road in the town of Monroe.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2019 Toyota traveling southwest crossed the center line and entered the opposing lane, where it struck a 2025 Subaru head-on, police said.
Victim identified
The driver of the Subaru, identified as Daryl Baker, 43, of Monroe, was found inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Robert Molina, 61, of Monroe, was extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders.
Police said Molina received lifesaving measures at the scene before being transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown in critical condition.
Investigation ongoing
State police said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
