Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan is entering his second season at the helm after leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament in Year 1, led by transfer forward Rashaun Agee, who led the team in scoring and rebounds, while the rest of the transfer-led roster provided enough depth, especially at the end of the season, to push the Aggies towards the postseason.
After defeating St. Mary’s in the first round, Texas A&M’s blowout loss to Houston in the Round of 32 wasn’t surprising, and placed an official bow on McMillan’s first roster, which will look very different next season after adding six players from the transfer portal, including star shooting guard PJ Haggerty.
On the recruiting trail, McMillan has already landed his first commitment in the 2027 cycle, as four-star guard Chase Richardson already looks like a star in the making and is widely considered a perfect fit in McMillan’s fast-paced scheme. Last week, it was revealed that Texas A&M has offered 2027 five-star shooting guard Jordan Page, who is 247Sports’ 10th-ranked prospect.
Landing five-star prospects has not been the norm for Texas A&M basketball, but under Bucky McMillan, the norms will be shattered one by one, likely starting with the 2027 cycle. However, Page is being heavily pursued by North Carolina and new head coach, Michael Malone, which will be hard to contend with due to the program’s blue-blood status and closeness to Raleigh (NC).
During his 2025 junior season, Page averaged 19.8 points per game and 9.9 rebounds. McMillan will continue to take his shots in recruiting, hoping to land the proverbial “big fish” in the 2027 class to pair with Chase Richardson.
