The No. 3-seeded Florida State Seminoles will start their time at the 2026 ACC Baseball Tournament on Friday against the No. 14-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The two teams took very different paths to get to Friday’s game at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina. FSU earned the No. 3 seed after going 19-11 in conference play during the regular season, earning the double bye. Pittsburgh went 11-19 and pulled off two upsets to keep its season alive.
It is about to get much tougher for them, with FSU rolling out Wes Mendes, the ACC Pitcher of the Year, for Friday’s game. The Seminoles are fighting for a top 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and will need to win at least a few games to help their chances. Head coach Link Jarrett elected to structure his starting rotation like a normal weekend series and not save Mendes for a later round.

This is the first time that FSU and Pittsburgh have ever played in the postseason, but FSU has dominated the series during the regular season. They lead it 32-8 and swept them earlier this season in Tallahassee.
