KINGSTON – State police have accused a Kingston man of sexually abusing a child following an investigation.
According to state police, that investigation began March 21, after they received a report that Tobias A. Buchanan, 25, of Kingston, allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a child less than 17 years old.
Buchanan was arrested May 20 and charged with third-degree rape, a felony; and sexual misconduct, first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
Buchanan wa arraigned in Town of Ulster Court and sent to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail, $50,000 bond or $100,000 partially secured bond, pending further action in Kingston City Court.
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
State police said the investigation is continuing.
