Nearly 60,000 Honda vehicles are being recalled over rearview cameras

Thousands of Honda vehicles are being recalled over malfunctioning rearview camera displays that could lead to a crash or injury.

Nearly 60,000 vehicles are included in the May 14 recall notice released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration due to some vehicles’ rearview camera display that showed “distorted or blank” images.

The cause of the issue is an adhesive separation that happened because of the way the bonding surface was applied by the supplier during the manufacturing process.

“This can permit moisture intrusion into the camera assembly, leading to corrosion of internal electrical components. As a result, the rearview camera image may become blurry, distorted, or fail to display, resulting in a black screen,” the notice reads.

Here’s what to know about what models are included in the recall.

What car owners should do if they have a recalled Honda vehicle

Car owners can take their vehicles to a Honda dealer, where the rearview camera will be replaced for free, according to the NHTSA notice.
