The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a fugitive Wednesday who was wanted in North Carolina on multiple charges.

The office’s Criminal Investigations Division received information from the U.S. Marshal’s Service regarding a fugitive believed to be staying in Woodford County. The fugitive was identified as Dylan Solloway, 31, who had been living in a camper. Solloway was wanted by North Carolina law enforcement for felony domestic violence, protective order violation and making harassing phone calls.

Woodford County Sheriff’s deputies began surveillance in and around the MillPoint RV Park in East Peoria, and confirmed Solloway was staying there. A traffic stop resulted in Solloway fleeing from law enforcement, police said. After a short pursuit, Solloway crashed his truck into a body of water near the Illinois River, then fled from his vehicle and attempted to escape in the river.

Arrest and rescue operations began which included a Spring Bay Fire/Rescue’s boat and a privately owned boat that Woodford County was allowed to use. Solloway was recovered from the water and taken into custody. He had sustained self-inflicted injuries and was suffering from hypothermia after exposure to cool temperatures in the river.

Solloway was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition after receiving medical attention. Upon release from the hospital, he will be brought to the Woodford County Jail to face charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding and resisting or obstructing arrest. Solloway also awaits extradition to North Carolina.
