A Rochester, New York, man accused of shooting a dog earlier this month is facing multiple felony charges, according to police.
Dog Shot After Barking, Police Say
Wesley Brown, 46, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated cruelty to animals and third-degree criminal mischief, all felonies, Rochester Police Capt. Greg Bello said.
Brown, who police said is a convicted felon, is accused of shooting a 3-year-old French bulldog named Miracle in the rear leg on May 5.
According to police, Brown was walking along First Street when the dog barked at him. Investigators said Brown then shot the dog at least once before fleeing the scene.
Miracle survived the shooting, Bello said.
Suspect Arrested By U.S. Marshals Task Force
Brown was arrested about two weeks later on Barton Street in Rochester by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Bello said. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.
What Happens Next
Brown was arraigned Thursday morning in Rochester City Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail, according to court records.
He is scheduled to return to court Friday afternoon for a preliminary hearing.
