Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, a Japanese restaurant concept established in 2008, is planning a Gainesville location, according to a plan review application on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Here’s what we know:
Where will Kura Revolving Sushi Bar be located?
Records show the restaurant will be located in the former home of Buff City Soap, 3830 SW Archer Road, Suite 20, in Butler Plaza.
What’s on the menu?
The menu at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar offers a wide selection of sushi rolls, nigiri, gunkan, wraps, hand rolls and soy paper rolls, all priced at $3.70 per serving (one to four pieces). Sides include miso soup, vegetable tempura, chicken gyoza, edamame and umami cucumber salad, among others.
Udon and ramen dishes are also available, with prices ranging from $8.95 to $11.25. For dessert, options include NY cheesecake and warabimochi, described as a “chilled, jelly-like mochi topped with sweet and nutty soybean powder.”
Innovation and technology
As the restaurant’s name implies, food arrives via a conveyor belt that glides past each table. Diners can try something new or order favorites using a touchscreen, and a built-in slot lets them slide empty plates out of the way.
Are there any locations already open in Florida?
Yes. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar has 90 locations on the U.S., including five in Florida. You can find them in Orlando, Tampa, Wellington and Aventura.
