Comments on the Stark County Fair’s Facebook page were positive, including, “This is a fabulous show for the fair to have!!!!!.” Another fan said he saw a Bonham Led Zeppelin-themed concert at Blossom Music Center that was “awesome.”
Bonham is the son of the late and legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham.
The son is a well-established and respected drummer in rock ‘n’ roll circles, including solo work, as well as playing and touring with rock stars like Sammy Hagar. Bonham was also a member of the Sammy Hagar and the Circle band, which also featured former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony.
Bonham, 59, previously toured and recorded with original Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
He has played drums at Led Zeppelin reunion shows, including in 1988, the first such event at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary concert, which included the band’s original members Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.
What Led Zeppelin hits will the band play?
Bonham has played the drums since age 5. His father died in 1980.
As a teenager, he was a member of the band Air Race, which signed with Atlantic Records, recorded an album and opened for Queen, Meat Loaf, Ted Nugent and AC/DC, according to Bonham’s website.
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening plays an array of Led Zeppelin’s classic songs, including “Whole Lotta Love,” “Black Dog,” “Stairway to Heaven,” “Going to California,” “Kashmir,” “Rock and Roll,” “Immigrant Song,” “Houses of the Holy,” “Good Times Bad Times,” “Thank You,” “Ramble On” and “Trampled Under Foot.”
During concerts, Bonham has been known to tell stories about his father.
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening is touring the country, including shows in California, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Pennsylvania and Arizona. The band is scheduled to perform June 5 in Columbus at Mershon Auditorium, which has a seating capacity of around 2,500.
