TSA reminds travelers not to pack this item, and it makes sense

The Transportation Security Administration has a list of banned items for security checkpoints. Some are obvious, while others, including cordless hair tools, might be less well known. But since 2025, you can keep your shoes on unless you arouse suspicion.

For those who enjoy cooking when they reach their destinations, TSA warns about bringing a certain cooking item on your vacation in your carry-on bag. Here’s what we know.

Propane stoves are banned at TSA checkpoints

In a Facebook post, the TSA reminded passengers that stoves with attached propane tanks are not allowed through airport security after one was seized at Pensacola International Airport in Florida.

TSA said the passenger was unaware that the stove was not allowed in their carry-on.

Camp stoves are allowed in carry-on luggage as long as they’re empty of fuel and fully cleaned with no fuel vapors or residue remaining.

Are clear carry-on bags required for TSA?

The answer is no, you do not need a clear carry-on bag to get through TSA.

According to UpgradedPoints, this “requirement” was an April Fool’s Day 2026 prank by the site. In the post, UpgradedPoints claimed TSA would require that passengers traveling through U.S. airports would soon be mandated to use clear bags for all carry-on items.

This “joke” explained that with clear bags, officers could quickly identify prohibited items without opening bags or sending them for secondary screenings.
