MUNCIE, IN — A Muncie woman was arrested on suspicion of dealing both heroin and meth after city police received a report of two people overdosing at her home.
According to an affidavit, Carrie Ann Swafford, 54, was one of two overdose victims found May 8 in her residence, in the 800 block of East Dunn Avenue.
An officer reported Swafford was “breathing, but unconscious” on her bed when he arrived at the scene.
A 32-year-old Muncie man, described as “alert but not talking,” was “rolling around on the floor in his own vomit,” the officer reported, and was holding a “clear glass pipe.”
The same man had reportedly also overdosed a day earlier.
Police received a warrant to search the house and reported finding bags containing about 127 grams of heroin and 30 grams of meth, along with paraphernalia including a set of digital scales and syringes.
The court document said a juvenile staying at the home placed the call reporting the overdoses about 10 a.m.
Swafford was arrested on Friday, May 15, and was being held in the Delaware County Jail under a $90,000 bond on suspicion of dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug, dealing in meth, two counts of possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, visiting a common nuisance, neglect of a dependent, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
The Delaware County prosecutor’s office will determine whether formal charges will be filed.
According to court records, Swafford has been convicted of crimes including forgery, neglect of a dependent, theft, receiving stolen property and driving while suspended.
