Parkhurst Dining, LLC, which provides the food services to students, faculty and staff at Carthage College will no longer be working with the college.
Carthage College is switching to Bon Appétit Management Company for the campus food services.
“As part of the transition, Bon Appétit has offered employment to all current on-site Parkhurst Dining employees,” Julie Thomas, executive director of marketing and communications for Carthage College said in a statement. “Parkhurst Dining employees were notified early this spring, before the news was made public, that they would have the opportunity to continue working on campus under the new partnership. Bon Appétit has already hosted multiple employee information sessions.”
The change impacts 160 workers. It’s unclear how many will make the switch to the new company.
“The workforce notification filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development is a routine and required step when third-party operational services transition from one provider to another,” Thomas said. “Carthage is excited about the future of campus dining under Bon Appétit, including refreshed dining spaces and expanded campus dining offerings.”
All affected employees have been notified of their separation date and that their separation from employment will be permanent,”, the company letter reads.”
Beyond Parkhurst Dining, 151 workers in total have have been laid off by Cree Lighting, Cell.Plus, LLC, and Hankel US Operations corp.
In the first four months of the year, 2,602 workers have been impacted by layoff notices.
