SOUTH BEND — There are over 5,000 scattered power outages across St. Joseph County after an early afternoon storm with rain, thunderstorms and heavy wind made its way through the region Monday, May 18.
The areas with the most outages include Granger with 1,231 outages, Rum Village with 1,657 and Chain-O-Lakes with 496, according to Indiana Michigan Power’s outage map.
I&M said in a press release that it is monitoring severe weather possibilities and is responding to impacts of the storm on an “as needed” basis.
The National Weather Service said online there is a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms as well as 10 to 15 mile per hour winds with 30 mile per hour gusts Monday night. NWS’ forecast for Tuesday, May 19, calls for a chance of showers at several different times during the day and evening past midnight.
