Despite online rumors to the contrary, Jay Volker said he will remain Beechwood’s head football coach.
Volker is taking a teaching job outside of the Beechwood Independent School District, which led to social media speculation that his tenure with the Tigers may be coming to an end. Volker, who has led the Beechwood football program since 2023, quickly shot down those rumors.
“I have taken a teaching position outside of the district that will still allow me to be the head football coach (of Beechwood),” Volker said in a statement on X. “We are currently working to bring back state championship #19 to Ft. Mitchell.”
Volker said accepting the new teaching position was not an easy decision but added the move would allow him to better support his family.
Volker took over a proud Beechwood football program in 2023 and has kept the Tigers among Kentucky’s best programs. His teams are 37-5 in three seasons, winning the 2024 Kentucky class 2A state championship and reaching the state semifinals in 2023 and 2025.
