Teen arrested after chase in stolen car, crash in central Lubbock

Police arrested a teenager after a chase in a stolen vehicle ended in a crash Sunday afternoon in central Lubbock.

At 2:13 p.m. Sunday, a Lubbock police officer observed a stolen vehicle being driven in the area of 34th Street and University Avenue, according to a statement from LPD.

The officer attempted to perform a traffic stop; however police say the driver fled. 

The vehicle pursuit ended at 19th Street and Avenue A, where the fleeing driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.

A 14-year-old juvenile male was arrested at the scene.

He suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. He was being booked into the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center on what police said would be an assortment of charges.
