Blowing sand causes major road closures in Palm Springs

Two Palm Springs roads have been closed due to blowing sand and low visibility.

The Palm Springs Police Department announced Saturday, May 16, that parts of North Gene Autry and North Indian Canyon have all closed.

The roads remain closed through Sunday morning.

North Indian Canyon closed between Sunrise Parkway and Garnet Avenue at 1:17 a.m., Saturday.,

Gene Autry closed between East Via Escuela and Salvia Road at 2:22 a.m., Saturday.

East Vista Chino had been closed between Clubhouse View Drive and Carmela Drive at 11:57 p.m., Saturday before being reopened at 8:36 a.m., Sunday.

Western Coachella Valley cities have been under a wind advisory since 10 a.m., Saturday. The advisory will remain in effect until 11 p.m., Sunday.
