Texas A&M vs. MSU: SEC baseball live updates, score, highlights

Texas A&M’s backs are against the wall again on Friday, as the Aggies look to avoid their third consecutive SEC series loss in a high-stakes contest against Mississippi State.

The odds of obtaining a national seed are on the line for Michael Earley’s club, which suffered an 18-11 loss in the series opener on Thursday night. Texas A&M’s poor performance on the mound was highlighted by a 13-run third inning, which was the most runs allowed by the program since joining the conference in 2012. The Aggies allowed 16 hits, including four home runs, in their fourth straight series-opening loss.

Despite the inconsistent pitching on Thursday night, Texas A&M’s lineup had a successful outing against MSU, which ranked third in the SEC in team ERA entering the series. The absence of right-handed pitcher Aiden Sims means Weston Moss will get the start for the Aggies in Friday’s contest. Earley announced this week that Sims is currently battling some tightness, which led to a change in the rotation for the weekend.
