Two people die after pickup truck leaves I-10, crashes into tree

OKALOOSA COUNTY − Two people died on May 12 in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, here’s what we know:

When did the crash happen?

May 12 at 4:42 a.m.

Where did the crash happen?

Interstate 10, near mile marker 51, about four miles west of the Crestview interchange with State Road 85.

What vehicle was involved in the crash?

A Silver Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Who was involved?

The driver of the truck was 65-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, The passenger was a woman, also from San Antonio. The age of the woman was not specified.

How did the crash happen?

According to the FHP release, the driver of the Silver Dodge Ram was traveling east when it left the roadway and struck a tree on the south shoulder. Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle suffered fatal injuries in the collision. This incident is still under investigation.
