On Wednesday and Thursday, May 13 and 14, the Randall County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team will be conducting tactical training exercises at Living Water Church, located on Highway 60.

During the training, community members may hear simulated gunfire, loud noises, distractionary devices, and explosives being utilized as part of the exercises, the sheriff’s office said.

“For the safety of all involved, we respectfully ask the public to avoid the immediate area during training operations and not be alarmed by the sounds or activity taking place,” the Randall County Sheriff’s Office said. “We appreciate the community’s continued support and cooperation as our deputies train to better serve and protect the community and surrounding areas.”

Additionally, the Amarillo Fire Department’s Wildland Team will be conducting a prescribed burn Friday, May 15 at Southwest 3rd and Adams in Amarillo. Burning will begin around 11:30 a.m., and the impacted area is expected to be about 1.3 acres.

According to AFD, the controlled burn will help remove vegetation in the area and create a defensible space.

The burn will also provide training for responders as well as help maintain the safety of the citizens.
