Packers claim former Raiders draft pick MJ Devonshire off waivers

The Green Bay Packers claimed cornerback MJ Devonshire off waivers from the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Devonshire was a seventh-round pick (No. 224 overall) of the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2024 draft. He has not played in a regular season NFL game, and the Packers will be his fifth NFL team. He previously spent time on the practice squad of the Raiders and Bills.

Devonshire had been with the Bills since December of 2025. He was waived on Monday. In Buffalo, he played under new Packers assistant coach Bobby Babich.

Devonshire (5-11, 186) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds, hit 38.5″ in the vertical leap, covered 10-4 in the broad jump, completed the short shuttle in 4.35 seconds and 3-cone drill in 7.12 seconds and finished 10 reps on the bench press. His Relative Athletic Score is 6.12 out of 10.0.

A Kentucky transfer, Devonshire was a two-time All-ACC pick while at Pitt, including a second-team pick as a returner in 2023 and a second-team pick as a cornerback in 2024. He intercepted seven passes over his final two seasons, returning three for touchdowns. In 2023, he returned a punt for a touchdown.

Lance Zierlein’s scouting report on Devonshire: “Devonshire is a cornerback with long arms and impressive ball production. He’s confident in press, allowing his athleticism to trace routes while instincts and agility key his work from zone. Devonshire locates the quarterback and ball flight fairly quickly with his back to the ball. He sits in the pocket of an average route runner and uses his length and reactive quickness to swat throws away. The long speed appears to be average and he picks up his share of flags with excessive grabbing against big targets downfield. A move to nickel is possible, and he has the athletic traits to make it work provided his run-support efforts don’t short-circuit his opportunity.”

Devonshire will join a cornerback room in Green Bay that has added veteran Benjamin St-Juste and draft picks Brandon Cisse and Domani Jackson this offseason.

The Packers also claimed tight end Luke Lachey off waivers from the Houston Texans.
