As deputies started to search for the vehicle, they were notified of a traffic collision that had occurred near Parkview Drive, which is one of the main entrances to College of the Desert. That’s almost two miles north of where the carjacking had allegedly happened.

The sheriff’s office said one of the vehicles in the crash was the one that had been allegedly stolen. Both motorists involved in the collision were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The investigation remained ongoing as of Monday afternoon. No other details were immediately available.
