Wendy Demarzo, 73, of Perinton, the driver of one of the three vehicles that crashed at Macedon Center Road on Friday afternoon, was pronounced dead at the scene, said sheriff’s spokesman Deputy David Marcucci. She was alone in her vehicle.

“Our thoughts are with the family of Wendy during this difficult time,” Marcucci said in a written statement.

Details of the fatal crash

According to deputies, Demarzo was driving west on Macedon Center Road, also known as 31F, when for an unknown reason crossed the center line and struck two eastbound vehicles, one of which was a dump truck, around 2:40 p.m.

The drivers of the eastbound vehicles were not injured in the crash. No charges were filed at the time of the crash. A stretch of Macedon Center Road was closed for several hours following the fatal crash.
