Congratulations to Tippecanoe Valley’s Kaitlyn Threlkel on being voted Player of the Week for April 27-May 2! The junior highlighted her week with a 12th-inning walk-off homer vs. John Glenn on Tuesday. She finished the game with three hits, and finished the week with six hits, two homers and five RBIs.
Here were the top performers from the past week.
Harper Adams, Greensburg
Adams constructed three excellent pitching outings, totaling 46 strikeouts and allowing only one earned run on 11 hits. She had 16 Ks in nine innings pitched vs. Batesville — and drove in the game-winning RBI as part of a 3-for-5, 3-RBI effort — then spun a two-hit shutout of Franklin County with 17 Ks. Adams finished the week 8-for-12 at the dish with a homer, two doubles and four RBI.
Hannah Dent, Hamilton Heights
Dent notched a hit and three RBIs against Westfield, then went 3-for-4 with a homer and three runs scored in a narrow loss to Fishers.
Nevaeh Dillon, Monrovia
The IU Indy commit pitched the Bulldogs to three wins. She went six innings and allowed zero runs on five hits agains West Vigo, allowed only two earned runs and struck out 11 in a 12-2 win over Speedway and threw a seven-inning, five-hit shutout of Greencastle. Dillon, who finished the week 3-1 in the circle with 21 Ks and a 1.90 ERA over 22 innings, also went 8-for-11 at the plate with three homers, a double and 11 RBIs.
Avery Dungan, Tri
Dugan batted .900 with a triple, five homers and 12 RBis. Her highlights at the plate included a three-homer game vs. Winchester and a near-cycle vs. Monroe Central. The senior also pitched 16 innings, striking out 23 and posting a 0.875 ERA.
Chyan Evans, Eastern Hancock
Evans shined vs. Union County, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. The junior infielder is batting .356 on the season and has been perfect in the field, converting all 43 chances with four double plays.
Sydney Feczko, Cathedral
Feczko threw a couple shutouts, including a three-hitter against Roncalli wherein she struck out eight across seven innings. She returned two days later with another three-hit shutout in a five-inning win over Carmel (six Ks). The senior also went 6-for-10 at the plate with two doubles, a homer and eight RBIs.
Anna Finn, Bishop Chatard
Finn made the most of her one game this week, batting 4-for-5 with a run scored in an 8-3 win over Warren Central.
Lucy George, Western
George pitched a pair of one-hit shutouts last week. She struck out 12 in seven innings vs. Lebanon, then fanned 17 in six innings vs. Benton Central. She allowed only one hit in both outings. The Michigan commit also collected six hits at the plate, with a 3-for-4 performance vs. Pioneer that included a homer, a double, three runs and five RBIs.
Katie Huckaby, Avon
Huckaby went 3-for-6 at the dish with a couple doubles, a round-tripper and seven RBIs. She also drew a pair of walks.
Bailee Latimer, Ben Davis
Latimer logged eight plate appearances in two games, clocking a .571 average with a home run and a walk. Her dinger led off the Giants’ game vs. Roncalli, and she boasted a .625 OBP.
Jazlyn Lawson, Roncalli
Up from JV to fill in for the injured Lola Morelli, Lawson homered as part of a 3-for-4 performance vs. New Palestine. She finished the week with two runs and three RBIs.
Eliana Luter, Lawrence Central
Luter went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs scored in a 9-6 win over Lawrence North. She also got the start in the circle, allowing only one earned run on nine hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk.
Emma Mowery, Martinsville
Mowery highlighted her week with a three-hit effort in game one vs. Franklin. She drove in an RBI in that game, and totaled three hits in her other two games, with a run scored vs. Indian Creek.
Leyla Miller, Lutheran
Miller delivered an RBI double in a 4-3 win over Southport, clocked three hits (including another double) and two RBIs in a 10-6 win over Lawrence North, and notched two RBIs and a hit in an 8-7 win over Brebeuf Jesuit.
Kiera Nickelman, Perry Meridian
Nickelman collected four hits, four runs and six RBIs for the week. She tripled and drove in two runs during a regular-season meeting with Pike, then accounted for four RBIs to punch her team’s ticket to the Marion County quarterfinals over the weekend.
Ella Painter, Brownsburg
The Dawgs had two games this week and Painter delivered at the dish, clocking four hits (one double), five RBIs and two runs scored.
Norah Pierce, Mt. Vernon
Pierce was held to one hit in two at-bats vs. Noblesville, but she came back with a big performance vs. rival Pendleton Heights, homering twice, doubling once and driving in six runs to help spark a 12-2 victory.
Kyrah Pierle, Beech Grove
Pierle struck out seven in a 10-8 win over Speedway in the Marion County tournament opener, then kept BG in it during a 7-4 loss to Roncalli. She hit a three-run double to tie the Royals at 4 in the sixth inning.
Carly Potts, Gibson Southern
Potts went 6-for-11 at the dish, clocking three doubles, a grand slam and eight RBIs for the Titans.
Adeline Shultz, Floyd Central
The Arizona State commit helped secure two wins on the week, pitching a six-inning shutout with seven strikeouts, one walk and only one hit allowed in an 11-0 win over Brownstown Central and eight strikeouts and one hit allowed in 4.1 innings pitched vs. Ballard (Ky.). Schultz also collected four hits (two homers), four RBIs and two runs.
Kira Smith, Warren Central
The top-ranked high jumper in the state, the junior batted .700 across three games with a couple doubles, a couple triples and a homer. Smith also drove in six RBIs, scored four runs and stole two bases.
Gracie Risley, Logansport
Rilsey batted .538 and crushed five home runs on the week. She also posted a 1.32 ERA and held a .900 fielding percentage.
Savvanna Riall, Greenfield-Central
The Toledo-bound senior blasted her eighth and ninth homers of the season in games against Shenandoah (2-for-2, four RBIs, 3 runs) and New Palestine (1-for-3, 2 RBIs, 1 run). Riall tripled twice and drove in four RBIs vs. New Castle.
Callista Walls, Evansville Central
The sophomore had six hits, six RBIs and four runs for the week, but her best game came against Princeton. Walls finished 3-for-4 that night with two triples, two runs and five RBIs.
Brynn Woods, Franklin
Woods delivered an RBI double against New Palestine; two hits, an RBI and a run scored vs. Martinsville and two runs scored in the second game of the Grizzly Cubs’ home-and-home with Martinsville.
