6 49ers draft picks officially sign rookie contracts, 2 still unsigned

The San Francisco 49ers on Friday officially announced the signings of six members of their eight-player draft class.

Those announcements came the day the team’s rookie minicamp opened. Draft picks can participate in rookie minicamp without a contract. The two players who remain unsigned are third-round defensive end Romello Height and defensive tackle Gracen Halton.

Rookie contracts in the NFL are mostly a formality. There are sometimes quibbles with language of the deals and guarantees, but the contracts are boilerplate four-year deals worth a preset amount of money. None of the 49ers’ draft picks were first-round selections which means none of the draft class will receive a fifth-year team option on their rookie pact.
