The GAB Spot doubled down on May 6 for a chance at the championship title in the city of Destin’s Lower Division Coed softball tournament at Morgan Sports Center.
The GAB Spot put Emerald Coast Roofscapes away 18-15 and then knocked off Legendary Marine 22-8 advance to the title game.
The GAB Spot will go head-to-head with Legendary Marine again on May 13 at 6:30 p.m. for the championship.
On May 6, The GAB Spot took an early 12-4 lead on Emerald Coast Roofscapes in the first two innings.
In the top of the fourth, ECR scored seven runs, but The GAB Spot answered with five runs.
In the fifth, The GAB Spot picked up one run.
ECR finished with two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Top batters for The GAB Spot were Jennifer Emmanuel with a double and three singles for two RBIs; Jesse Santos, four singles for three RBIs; Dave Bazylak, three singles for two RBIs; and Michelle Corrigan, three singles for an RBI.
Seth Goins was tops for ECR with a double and three singles. Gordon Welch connected for three singles for an RBI, and Samantha Sax doubled and singled for three RBIs. Caige Hefner cranked out a grand slam.
In the final game of the evening, The GAB Spot dominated for the 22-8 win over Legendary Marine.
At the end of three innings, The GAB Spot was up 10-3, and 13-4 at the end of five.
In the sixth inning, both teams scored two runs.
In the top of the seventh, The GAB Spot rallied for seven runs and then held Legendary two only two runs.
Dave Bazylak led The GAB Spot with a triple and three singles for four RBIs. Hunter Infinger connected for two doubles and two singles, and Jennifer Emmanuel doubled and hit three singles for three RBIs.
Avery Moore hit an inside-the-park home run, two doubles and a single for Legendary. Shannon Brinkley hit two singles and Will Binford connected for a hit.
