A Columbus woman has been indicted in an October crash that killed her passenger.
Robin Hatfield, 51, was indicted on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on May 6.
On Oct. 26, Hatfield was driving a white Audi Q3 east on Independence Village Drive just west of Freedom Trail, according to a news release. At 1:29 a.m., Hatfield failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle struck a concrete pillar and flipped on its side, according to a crash report.
Both Hatfield and a passenger, 62-year-old Joe Day, were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut out, according to the crash report.
The two were transported to Mount Carmel East in critical condition. Day died Nov. 4, over a week after the crash, according to a Columbus police news release.
Hatfield has at least three previous OVI convictions, according to court records.
