On April 18, the Desert Hot Springs Elks Lodge #2639 hosted its 31st annual charity golf tournament for local veterans.
Marines were provided with breakfast followed by a full day of golf and lunch. It was a great event dedicated to supporting the community and its veterans. Money raised will goes to youth organizations and sports and junior ROTC as well as keeping the lodge open during the summer months.
Founded in 1963, DHS Elks Lodge #2639 is a charitable organization that helps children and veterans.
In addition to the golf tournament, the nonprofits hosts a literacy fair and a backpack giveaway with shoes, clothes and school supplies. The organization has adopted a few classrooms and purchases supplies for teachers..
DHS Elks Lodge 2639 also holds a dinner and a standdown for veterans in January, where participants are given hygiene products, shoes, socks and various prizes and gift cards.
