Lake Country restaurateur to revive Belfrē Kitchen space in Delafield

In January, Lake Country diners mourned as Belfrē̄ Kitchen, 606 N. Genesee St., Delafield, announced it would close after nearly a decade of business.

But now, there’s something to celebrate.

Belfrē Kitchen owner Amy Quinn is passing the keys to her former restaurant, housed in an 1860s-era church, to local restaurateur Llazar Konda.

They announced the deal May 4 on social media.

“Over the past few months, we’ve taken the time to thoughtfully consider what could be next for Belfrē Kitchen,” Quinn wrote in the social media post. “It was important to us to find someone who genuinely cares about this community and the people who have made Belfrē what it is. I’m excited to finally share where that’s led.”

In her social media post, Quinn said Konda has plans to carry on Belfrē Kitchen in a way that honors its spirit while adding his own touch to the restaurant. She added that many “familiar faces” from Belfrē Kitchen would join Konda at the new space, as well.

An opening date has not been announced, but in the post, Quinn teased it should be open “soon” for patio season.

This will be Konda’s fourth Lake Country restaurant. He also owns Pewaukee restaurants La Tavola and The Beach House Bistro and Oconomowoc’s Kavos.

Konda could not be immediately reached for comment.

A native of Athens, Greece, Konda’s current restaurants reflect his Mediterranean heritage. The Beach House Bistro, which opened at 161 Wisconsin Ave. in Pewaukee in 2022, is a Mediterranean small plates restaurant. In 2024, he opened modern Italian restaurant La Tavola next door. In February 2025, he opened another Mediterranean small plates restaurant, Kavos, at 20 S. Main St. in Oconomowoc.
