Chase Elliott kicked off May exactly how he wanted to.
With a NASCAR Cup Series win.
Elliott claimed the Würth 400 on May 3 at Texas Motor Speedway. He led 87 laps and held off Denny Hamlin and Alex Bowman, who placed second and third, respectively.
Erik Jones and Elliott won the first two stages, giving them their first stage victories of the season. For Jones, it marked the first stage win of his career.
The trip to Fort Worth was a return to intermediate ovals after the previous weekend at monster Talladega Superspeedway. Texas measures in at 1½ miles.
